I think that too often, blaming technology is used as a crutch. Just because technology can change the way we interact with other people, doesn't make it any better or any worse. We all need to work on cultivating the important relationships in our lives and for me being online is one of the best ways to do that.
I love online friends. I'm an introvert at heart (an INFJ to be specific) and hanging out in big crowds really exhausts me, but I love getting to know people, learning new things, and making new friends.
I like to think that I'm a pretty accessible blogger. I respond to every single one of my comments, I like to engage on facebook, instagram and twitter. One of the best parts about internet friends is the experiences you open yourself up to. When you learn about people from all over the country and all over the world it broadens your horizons and makes you a better, more well-rounded person.
To the people that I've been friends with for more than 14 years and to the people that I've just had the pleasure of meeting this past year, thank you all for being a part of my life.
Here are my social media links, be my internet friend :) Leave your links in the comments section for me to follow back!

I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteI am introvert too, I really hate big crowds but somehow when I'm online I don't feel suffocate at all. hehehe
ReplyDeleteSo glad :D
ReplyDeleteYes! Exactly lol!! Love the internet :D
ReplyDeleteI was just trying to explain this to my sister in law this weekend. Every since I decided to stay home with my kids I've found that there are moments where I feel totally alone. In those moments I can reach out to these bad ass women I've met on line, whether through twitter or just reading their blogs, and I don't feel alone. Yes I have friends I meet with for a cup of coffee or talk to on the phone, but social media friends have kept me sane these past two years. Without them I probably would have curled up into a little introvert ball and hidden away long ago!
ReplyDeleteIt can really be a life-saver for people. Especially when your lifestyle dictates not interacting with a tons of people on a face-to-face basis everyday.
ReplyDeletePeople are constantly asking me -- well how do you know they aren't lying about themselves? and I look at them and say, Most of the people I meet in person lie about themselves through their teeth, its not any different.
:)
I agree - it just seems easier to make friends online. Making friends as an adult is fifty times harder than it was in school!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!
