Tutorial: How to Add A Hovering Pinterest Button

I'm always looking for better ways to accomplish tasks, especially when they help increase my productivity. Today I'm sharing a new blogging productivity trick with you: how to add a hovering pinterest button to all of your blog images.

New Organization: Ikea Raskog Cart

I've had my eye on this cart for a couple of months now. I first spotted it on Pinterest, and its been in the back of my mind ever since.

On Friday, Jeff went to Ikea and picked it up for me -- a total and wonderful surprise :) 

I put it together over the weekend, and man is it sturdy. I am super impressed with it, and I am totally enabling here and telling everyone they should go out and get their own (it also comes in a really pretty turquoise).

It holds so much stuff, it really gave me a ton of new space in my scrappy area -- and since I scrap in a common area of the house, it'll be really easy to just roll it out of the way when we have company.

What's in my cart:  

The top tier holds two of my bigger organization containers. On the left is a blue basket (from 5 & Below) that holds all of my taller embellishments. Lots of stickers, labels, flair, journaling tags, etc. 

And that big yellow thing is a vintage canister set from my mother-in-law (its supposed to hold sugar, tea, flour, etc). But after decorating it a bit with Amy Tangerine Washi tape, it works perfectly for extra scrappy storage. One canister holds brads/buttons, extra stamps, etc -- I tend to rotate that around often. 

The second tier has all of the bowls that I keep on my desk while I'm working. One has all of my 'current' stamps (mostly Studio Calico), one has 'new/small embellishments', and the other has 'SC kit embellishments'. Those will eventually get placed in the big blue basket if I don't use them within the month. 

And the bottom tier has a bunch more baskets. One holds my Prima and Jenni Bowlin ink pads, a box of Mr. Huey's, Project Life journaling cards, extra pens, and markers.

Tutorial: I Love You Mini Envelope Book

Hey! Today I'd like to share with you a really cute little mini book that I made for Jeff for Valentine's Day.

The book is made from 6 little envelopes bound together with washi and artist's tape; and each  envelope holds a tag with a special note inside.

Supplies Used: 

• 6 Envelopes (You can use any envelopes for this project -- I used miniature tiny bag type envelopes for mine).
• Artist Tape (Masking Tape will do)
• Washi Tape
• Binder Clips/Clothespins
• 6 Tags cut to fit inside your envelopes
• Random Stamps & Embellishments for decorating

Step-by-Step:

1. The first step is to stamp/decorate the front and back of all your envelopes. I stamped the day of the week on the front of each of my envelopes; and the red punchinella pattern on the back.

When you're finished decorating your individual envelopes, we'll move on to binding the book together. 

2. Stack all your envelopes together in order.  You are going to be taping the CLOSED side of the envelope (the side across from the opening). Hold your envelopes together and place a strip of artist (or masking) tape binding together the group of envelopes. Don't worry if its not super stuck together just yet, we'll be taping the inside envelopes together in the next step.  

Trim off the excess tape from the top and bottom of the book of envelopes, and grab your washi tape for the next step. 

3. Now we are ready to bind the inside pages together. Open your book up to the first set of pages. Place a strip of washi tape down the center, making sure that you get the tape on both sides. Repeat this step for each of your inside pages. 

Once you trim off the excess washi tape, grab two binder clips (or clothespins) and clamp down your binded edge. This will ensure that your tape sticks as much as possible and that the pages on your book will open easier. Leave on the clips for an hour or two, and then we'll move onto the next step.

4. The last step is to add in the tags and decorate the cover of the book. Grab your stamps, and your stickers, and whatever other embellishments you're in the mood for and go to town. 

  

Stick a tag inside each of the envelopes, decorate the cover and then you're totally done! I added some bling and a little heart to my cover.

Project Life Journaling Cards

I stayed up late tonight working on some new Project Life journaling printables. I'm gonna pull out my Project Life stuff tomorrow when my new Studio Calico box gets here, and I thought it would be great to have a couple new printables to play around with.

There are two 2.9x4 cards. 'Today' and Photo'. And another 4x6 card with 'This was fun.' They're all together on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper for super easy printing.

I'm super excited to use these cards. I used the corner rounder to soften up the edges, and I have my eye on the 'that was fun' card to use for the Super Bowl. As soon as I'm finished using these in my new Project Life pages, I'll be back to show those off.

Lots of Fun New Projects!

Happy November! We've already hit our first round of snow, so it feels a bit more like January here in NJ.

I'm diving in head-first here with a whole bunch of new scrappy things going on.

1. Creative Soup is moving to bi-monthly challenges that will also be featured on our blog.

What a great day to be Sunday.

Lazy Sundays are my favorite; especially after a stressful week.  Even though its just the two of us at home, Sundays are our family day. We make it a point to spend time doing things together, and then sit down to a nice Sunday dinner. Within the next few months we'll be moving, as well as living with my sister. Things are going to be a little bit different--I'm nervous, but excited at the same time.

There are a couple things I'd like to share with you today.  First, I want to thank all of the new readers who have come here over the last week.  Its really nice to be reminded of the wonderful people in this scrapbooking community.  I love meeting new people, and learning about them and their wonderful stories.  If you've been enjoying my blog, I'd love to see you over on twitter, facebook, or pinterest. The other thing I'd like to share with you today is this little book that I made last week.  I had a drawer just filled with some tickets stubs and other memorabilia that I'd been hanging on to.  I kept telling myself, "oh I'll get around to scrapping that soon".  Then I realized, yeah--there's no way I'm gonna get around to all of that.  So I grabbed all the ticket stubs, some chipboard, and my bind-it-all; and came up with this!

I put all my ticket stubs and memorabilia in chronological order, along with dividers that I created with some kraft cardstock and Maya Road month rub-ons. Threw it all in the bind-it-all, and now I have this cute little book that I can flip through to remember all the cool events I went to.

Friday Five

Happy Friday everyone.

I'm up late tonight, I was watching the Japan Earthquake coverage on the news, and now I'm having a bit of trouble falling asleep.  So I figured it would be a good time to share some of my favorite pinterest photos from this week.

#1. Isn't this just the neatest thing? it was originally from dsharp. Its the corner of an envelope! I have a bunch of envelopes that are just begging to be decorated as bookmarks!

#2. This photo is just so beautiful. Originally from Flickr . I just really love the teal and yellow color combo, it is just so bright and serene at the same time. Just makes me happy!

#3. I think this is the cutest poster ever! I love the colors and the typography is just fantastic! and over in the bottom corner it says, "and her cat"! So adorable. Originally seen at welovetypography.com.

#4. And speaking of cats, I think this kitten is the *most* cutest, adorable thing I have ever laid my eyes on! Have you ever seen eyes so emotional? 

#5. Finally I've been pinning a lot of home decor/organization type stuff in anticipation of us finding a new place and moving within the next few months. I've decided that I'm going to do our bedroom in yellow and grey, so here is one of my favorite yellow/grey bedrooms.

I love the lists of "currents" that I see around the blogosphere. I think its a great way to look back and see what's gone on in your life at a given time; as well as check out what everyone else is feeling!

listening: to the boy playing video games, terribly annoying noises actually :)

eating: nothing at the moment, I'm waiting for Miss Rebecca to wake up from her nap so we can go to Stuff Yer Face for Boli's and Fishbowls!

drinking: Some Diet Fruit Punch from Halo Farm

wearing:  A simple black spaghetti strap house dress

feeling: Lethargic? Also not very creative---hopefully my creativity will come back tomorrow when I get my SC box!

weather: Plain crappy. Overcast and much colder than it has been.

wanting: To make awesome artsy projects, and if we're talking tangible items...I really want a silhouette sd.

thinking: About what direction my life is going in---I know its going forward, and in a positive direction, and lately that just hasn't been enough for me.

enjoying: Video game time with the boy, Rebecca being home for Spring Break, working on a class I'm teaching in May!

wondering: If we're gonna be able to find a good apartment to live in come June. I've been worried about this a bunch, but its finally coming around to the time where I can actually start looking at real places!

Finally Friday

This has just been a totally crappy week! But Friday is finally here, and the weekend will be wonderful. My Studio Calico kit came on Wednesday, and I tore through it last night! I finished up one layout and started two more! 


The layouts are for this weekend's crop so I can't reveal them just yet, but here is a fun sneak of the one I'm working on right now. 

I have seriously been waiting to use those houndstooth letters for like ever now. I love them on this layout. I was getting worried that they were just gonna stay in my stash forever. 

We're going up to my mom's tonight for dinner, but I have to make sure to get back early because the first challenges of February's Creative Soup crop start at midnight! They will go up at Midnight and 1am respectively.
