An Interview with Myself. 27 Questions on my 27th Birthday

Today is my 27th birthday. One of my goals for this upcoming year is to learn how to write about myself.

I'm terrible at talking about myself. I hate bragging or boasting, so anytime I'm asked about who I am, or what I'm doing I either drastically undersell myself or clam up and don't say anything at all.

So this year, in conjunction with my One Little Word: Write; I'm going to make a promise to myself to learn to talk about myself in an open and honest way.

I'm kicking this off by interviewing myself. I know that I do much better when I'm asked specific questions. I figure if I interview myself and answer a bunch of questions, it will be one step closer to being able to clearly articulate about how I feel.

I picked out 27 of the 33 questions from this post on a blog about personal development. I'm a big believer in waking up each day and trying to make yourself a better person, so I invite you to join me on this journey of self discovery through personal writing.

Fitting In: How, What, & Why.

I have the hardest time fitting in. I'm generally awkward when it comes to just acting like everyone else. I only have a few close friends and even though I love being around people; large groups tire me out quickly  -- I'm pretty much a quintessential introvert.

Where does that fit in with my scrapbooking? and why does it matter?

There are a couple of important reasons:

Right Now: A Me Layout

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Today I wanted to share a quick and fun layout that I created over the weekend, inspired by a challenge over at Scrapping From the Inside Out

I wanted to record a bunch of things that I love RIGHT NOW--a very 'in-the-moment' type layout. I didn't care if they were trendy things, or things that might not even be around in a few months, I'm into them right now and that was important enough for me.

I used my silhouette to cut a heart shape in the center and my 'right now' title at the bottom. I then backed the heart with some contrasting patterned paper and poked ten holes around the page for the brads. I wrapped a piece of twine around the brad before sticking it into the paper--and then pulled the twine through the center of the heart. I did this for each of the brads and then added a whole bunch of handwritten journaling around the page.

Thanks for stopping by! If you do any 'in-the-moment'/right now scrapping, please leave me a link in the comments, I'd love to check it out!

Be Awesome Today: A Fanciful Frames Layout

Hi hi Everyone!

I'm so excited to finally share this layout with you -- I've been working on it for quite some time. It was one of those projects where I would just add a couple of things here and there every couple of days. And I wound up with one of my favorite layouts of all time.

This layout was originally see on the Basically Bare blog: http://basicallybareonline.com/wordpress/?p=3500

The bright colors of Pink Paislee's Spring Jubilee really pop on neutral backgrounds, so I grabbed the newspaper patterned sheet as my background and worked from there.  I added some Pink Paislee rub-ons (Spring Jubilee and She Art collections) to the neutral background, and matted the entire layout on bright green patterned paper.
I loved the idea of painting the Basically Bare chipboard Frames a stark black (using the amazing Zig black painty markers) and using them to frame the ultra bright pink and blue papers. The Zig painty markers really do make it super easy to paint chipboard. I keep them right on my desk at all times. I also used them to paint over the foam Thickers in my title, easily making my own coordinating alpha -- I've used this trick about seven or eight times now!

I used three separate Basically Bare Fanciful frames: one for my photo (approx. 4×6) and then two more for the patterned papers.  After backing the frames, I played around with the arrangement a little until I was satisfied.

As you can see I stacked the center frame with the photo, on top of the two other frames. This gave the layout a lot of dimension right at the focal point.

One of my favorite parts of this layout is this little embellishment cluster to the bottom left of the photo.  The acrylic heart is a part of the LOVEly locket set, I trimmed off the lock piece at the top, and I was left with a clear acrylic heart. Also in the cluster are a chipboard star from the Celestial Shapes collection as well as a chipboard button from the Buttons collection; those are both covered with a coordinating patterned paper from the Spring Jubilee collection.
I added Pink Paislee ‘She Art’ rub-ons to the top of both the acrylic heart and the chipboard star, just to give it a little bit more of a artsy, textured feel.
Thank you so much for letting me share this with you!

Layouts: About Me

About Me - Two Ways

I scrap about myself all the time.  I don't have kids, and scrapping about how much I love my boyfriend can get a little boring. So I scrap about myself all the time.

I take lots of self-pictures with my iPhone and just scrap about some random stuff that I'm thinking about or stuff that's going on.

Today I'm sharing two of my recent 'me' layouts. They are both about 'stuff I think about'; but I went about it in two totally different ways.

The first one is a bit of a mish-mash of stuff -- I wanted to scrap about how I'm always thinking about fifty million things at once. I started with a kraft background and added some random embellishments and frames here and there. I weaved my journaling throughout the page to mimic the idea of free-flowing thoughts.

The second layout was a little bit more concrete. I'm loving all of the great pie-chart layouts I've been seeing lately, so I threw together a quick graph of what I group my random musings into. I think it came out pretty accurate lol.

I love to encourage everyone to scrap more about themselves. I love talking about how to get more into scrapping about yourself, and getting over the awkwardness of scrapping yourself.
