Introducing: Project Life 1.5!!

Project Life: Version 1.5

After spending the last six months filling up a 12x12 double page layout for each week, I was getting a bit overwhelmed. I was struggling to fill the pages, and then putting it off because I wasn't sure how to finish up.

But I really love Project Life. I love the concept, I love making little mini cards, I love the everyday snapshots. I love my spreads when they are finished. So I decided to step back and figure out how to make Project Life work for me.

First: I'm making one page a week.

Second: I'm cutting down my pages to 9"x12" (or about that)

Third: Blog photos don't have to be perfect

One page a week lets me concentrate on the fun things that happened during the week, instead of having to manufacturer (or drag out) the same mundane events. When I have weeks with extra stuff to document, I can easily make fun inserts and interactive pages -- keeping my book fresh and fun.

I also cut my page protectors (these are Becky Higgins Design F) down by 25%. I've been scrapping a lot of 8.5x11" layouts lately, and cutting the page protectors down made it a lot more comfortable to work with. Like I said before, I'm making this project work for me.

The third thing that I really wanted to stress to myself is that sharing is more important than making pictures look perfect. Project Life is so hard to photograph -- any light on the page protectors, and there is glare all over the place. So I just said screw it -- I'm gonna share the imperfect pictures.

A lot of these pictures are taken on my iPhone, its easy to take, easy to edit, easy to upload.

I'm not concerning myself with a little bit of glare -- or a little bit of weirdness.

Project Life | Week 12

Week 12

March 12th-18th

I had so much fun putting this week's spread together. I'm gonna be honest -- its been a pretty terrible couple of weeks, it was really really hard wanting to craft anything at all while my cousin was in the hospital and after he died. But after talking it out with a few people, and a huge influx of really happy scrapping stuff, I was able to sit down and create something I really really loved.

This week's spread was also featured as one of the guest posts for the Two Peas Captured class, a monthly class from Lisa Truesdell about Project Life.

The overarching themes for Lisa's class were washi tape and getting yourself caught up. Since I love love me some washi tape, I had the best time putting this together. I also used a lot of the Studio Calico April kit as well as some of Amy Tangerine's new Sketchbook line.

2012 Captured // April Guest

Hi Everyone!

I'm excited to share with you all that Lisa Truesdell (gluestickgirl around the web) asked me to participate in this month's Two Peas Captured class! Captured is a year long class dedicated to Project Life. A new lesson debuts on the 15th on every month. Full details here: 2012 Captured // April.

I'm a huge fan of Captured, and I love the themes for this month's class -- Washi tape & Catching up when you get behind. Guesting along with me this month was the *amazing* Marcy Penner -- who has one of my favorite Project Life styles.

Project Life Inspiration | April Newsletter

Hi Everyone :)

I'm really glad to be back with something super special that I've been working on for a while.

I've been doing Project Life inspiration posts for a while here and over at ScrapFreak.com. I find so much creative buzz in the various Project Life albums being created and shared online.

I'm super happy to announce that from now on, Project Life Inspiration will be a monthly newsletter!

Project Life Inspiration | April is a PDF document and can be downloaded here.

This month's issue contains inspiration from Amy Tan, Geralyn Sy, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and lots more.

Project Life Inspiration comes out the first week of each month. This month's issue was delayed due to the tragic passing of my youngest cousin Jimmy. We love you more than we were ever able to say.
