Challenge: Your Personality

Today I'm going to share a layout with you. I've been putting forth an effort to scrap more about myself--in an abstract way.  I'm trying harder to document how I think about things, how I feel about things, what I want, etc.  This layout was inspired by a challenge over at www.thecreativesoup.com

From Jessica Bree: I love taking personality tests. They help you think about what makes you unique and about how you deal with others and the world in general. This week your challenge is to use a personality test or quiz to inspire a layout about an aspect of your personality. Anything can work from how you are introverted to how your attention to detail helps you in your job.
Requirements: Create a layout (or mini) about at least one aspect of your personality and journal (at least 50 words) about how this aspect impacts your life. Don't feel this has to be serious... its okay to make fun of ourselves sometimes

And here is my layout: Introverted and Intuitive

Thanks for stopping by, and please check out the great Mojo Monday challenges offered by Creative Soup.

Mojo Monday - Get Meaningful: Your Personality

First off, let me wish all the Americans (and anyone else who needs a reason to celebrate) Happy Fourth of July!! We're down the shore this weekend, having a great time. But every monday brings another Mojo Monday challenge from Creative Soup. This week's challenge is about describing your own personality. I think being introverted is one of my biggest personality traits, I've included a closeup of the journaling below.

Mojo Monday: 6.27 Get Crafty-- Fonts

Its Mojo Monday time again! Head on over to Creative Soup for a great challenge. This week's challenge comes from Kim, and its all about Fonts!
Use a minimum of 5 fonts on your project. Try mixing fonts in the same word. This is a nice way to use us some of the alpha sets that you have where you are all out of a letter. Or how about putting emphasis on a certain words in your journaling by using a different font than the rest of the writing.
I loved this challenge. It came very naturally to me; I love using different typefaces on my pages and projects. Word art and typography are one of my favorite art forms. My layout is about my little stuffed pig (who is a die-hard NY Jets fan) and a picture I took of her during the NFL playoffs this past season.

Supplies Used: KI Memories: Calendar Paper, Studio Calico: Fabrips, Pink Cloud Rub-ons, Day of the Week Rub-ons, Hambly: Purple Rub-ons, Sassafrass: Grid Letters,American Crafts: Thickers & Zing (leaf), Maya Road: Star Chipboard (Embossed with leaf Zing), Making Memories: Black letters, Washi Tape

Check out the challenge here. The CT did such a great job with this challenge, and I hope you all love it as much as we did!

Hi Everyone!! I'm sorry I've been away for the past week, I've been working on a SUPER HUGE new project!  Creative Soup has moved to a bigger, better, brand new home! We are now located at www.thecreativesoup.com.

Welcome to the Creative Soup’s Spring Forward Blog Hop!

To kick off our new enhanced site we thought it would be fun to have all of our creative team members complete one of the fun Mojo Monday challenges from the first quarter.

I chose the 3.7 Stressed Mojo Monday Challenge. The challenge was:
This crazy whirlwind we call life often comes with it's fair share of stress: Stress from work, stress from family, stress from our selves etc...
For this month's challenge I want you to document how you deal with stress. Do you meditate, have a quiet spot to go think, play a video game, eat, shop etc..? We all have different coping mechanisms, some healthy others not so much. Does your method change with the stress you are feeling (or the person causing it?)
Create a layout on your stress management. Why it works (or doesn't) How you came across it, how it makes you feel. Document and write journaling of at least 40 words to complete this challenge.
Here is my layout:

My other favorite layout from this challenge was from Mara--Isn't her use of misting and those colors just fabulous?

Mojo Monday - Get Sketchy: Sketchy Thursdays

I've been having a lot of trouble lately with my creativity.  I feel like I haven't really been in the zone since I got back from Atlanta. I thought it would go away when I got my Studio Calico kit last week---but I still haven't really done much.

Usually when that's the case, I try to force myself to do a challenge layout, use a sketch, something with a specific goal in mind, so I'm not just worried about the creative aspect of the project.  So right now I have an awesome sketch sitting on my desk, and a half misted layout--so we'll see where it goes.

Here's the sketch. It was drawn up by Sketchy Thursdays for Creative Soup's Mojo Monday challenge for today.

The Creative Team did a lot of great work with the sketch, and if you're also in need of some inspiration, head on over there and see what they did! And while you're there, feel free to upload some stuff to our new gallery. We'd love to see what you have to show off!

Mojo Monday - Get Crafty--ReUse It!

Gooooood Morning everyone!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm pretty bummed about the Jets loss :/. Piggy is even more upset than I am; but she says there is always next year; and another year for Mark Sanchez to mature will only help everyone.

But Monday morning always brings us a new Mojo Monday, and today is no different!!

Today's Mojo Monday is a Get Crafty challenge from Kim called ReUse It

Ok, we are all guilty of it! We hold on to things because we know we can reuse it. Here is the time to do it. Your first Get Crafty challenge is to reuse an item not intended for scrapbooking to make something pretty! For this challenge you need to reuse something that would normally be thrown away and make a layout, card, or altered project out of it.
[Head over to the thread to] take a look at what the CT made out of our "junk"!

Here is my project. See anything you recognize? its the project I was working on Friday night and posted sneaks of!! I absolutely love how it came out.

And the junk that I used? This cut out sheet of chipboard! It came with one of the board games I got for Christmas. After I punched out all of the little game pieces, I looked at it and said---hey! That would make a great mask! So I used that to mask the background with a bunch of mist colors to create that circle pattern.

I worked a whole bunch on my Project Life: Memorabilia Album over the weekend, so I'll have a bunch of stuff to share with you tomorrow! I'm really liking how this is turning out as well.  Its been a great learning experience. Between using more "memorabilia" type stuff in my work, and trying out some more mixed media techniques, I've really learned a lot in the past couple weeks.

Over on the Project Life blog, Jessica Bree just put up a new post about using memorabilia to create your pages themselves. This is a lot of what I've been doing, and she showcases it fantastically--so head on over to the blog and check out her new pages, they are fantastic!

Also! I hope to have lots of great muffin pictures up tomorrow! The muffins were seriously fantastic, and I highly recommend the recipe to everyone! The ONLY thing I would change at all, is mixing in a little bit of the jam before putting all the batter into each of the muffin tins. I can't wait to make them again!

A couple new layouts :)

I finished photographing layouts last night. I need to be better about using my set aside "creative time" to do more of the photographing, uploading, blogging, etc, when I'm just not feeling the creative juices flowing.  Sitting there just staring at paper makes for a not so happy girl :)

Today is Friday, which means one more day till the weekend. We have some errands to run today, bank, pharmacy, post office, etc. and then just a relaxing night at home. I'll make a yummy dinner, and we'll probably settle in and watch a movie or something.  We've been watching Boogie Nights, but I can only handle about 30-40 minutes a night before I get sleepy; so its gonna take us a while to get through. Tomorrow we are going to visit Judy and Shari, two of my favorite people, for dinner and games! I'll make sure to take lots of fun pictures.

Speaking of which, Jeff and I came to an arrangement--he promised to never ever complain about me taking pictures of him, if in return, I promise to not get sad when he teases me. I think it works out pretty well in my favor :)

Here are two new layouts I have to share with you -- I also finished another one last night, but its for the February Sketch Mojo Monday over at Creative Soup (its a two page layout! omg. I dont think I've done a two pager in like years).

Journaling Detail :)

Both these were made using a majority of Studio Calico kits-- I really love how I can just shop from there 90% of the time. It makes my scrappy life so wonderful and easy.  The first layout was done for the Creative Soup 11 for 11 Mojo Monday challenge. The challenge was to scrap 11 wishes you had for the upcoming year (and I don't want to hear any more about wish #7--haters hate on ;)). The Second layout was just one I did about the boy. I had a cute little picture of him at the PA Ren Faire, and I absolutely love this SC paper with the hearts. I was having trouble at the end of this one, so I just decided to write love you with hearts all around the outside. I really like how it came out. :)

Thanks again SO much for looking, its wonderful to be able to share my creative process with such wonderful people.

Mojo Monday - Catalog Inspiration

Hey everyone, I'm coming down with a bit of feeling icky so I'll keep it really short today.

The Mojo Monday Challenge is up at Creative Soup! This is my first ever challenge for the site! I had a lot of fun coming up with it, and I really hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did!

Catalog Inspiration.

For this challenge, I'd like you to go through some of your catalogs. If you don't have any left in person, there are some great ones online that you can flip through. Anthropology.com has their three latest catalogs online.

My Layout

Here is my catalog page, its from the Urban Outfitters holiday catalog. Its hanging on a string I keep above my scrappy table, that way I was able to look at it for inspiration the whole time! I try to keep a bunch of inspirational things up there.

I'm also using a bunch of catalogs for my altered art journal. I've been working on that a whole bunch lately, and I'm planning on getting up a bunch of photos as soon as I'm done! Hopefully in the next few days!

Monday Mojo - Get Sketchy!

Happy Monday!!

Monday means we have another Monday Mojo Challenge up for you over at Creative Soup!

This week's challenge is a Sketch Challenge! This month we were lucky enough to have an exclusive sketch designed for us from the awesome gals over at Sassy Lil Sketches. Check out the challenge thread here! The Creative Team over at the Soup really outdid themselves this time! Love everyone's take on the sketch.

Here's the Sketch:

And here is my take on it!! (As you all know I do have a bit of a hard time following direct instructions; so I changed it up a bit).  I used six square photos instead of the big photo, and then I moved my journaling up to the upper left corner and eliminated the banner.

And while I was watching football yesterday afternoon, I grabbed this little canvas (atc sized) that I bought from Urban Outfitters while I was in Las Vegas last December.  Its stayed totally blank for over a year, and yesterday I decided to try to decorate it a bit. I probably changed the paint about 30 times. Painting it blue, then green, then yellow, then orange...I had no clue what I was doing. But this is what I ended up with; and I'm really happy with it. It now sits in my scrappy area.

Thanks so much for looking! Remember to head on over and check out that sketch! Hopefully some pictures later today or tomorrow of my new and organized scrappy area!!

Mojo Monday and Talk Tuesday

Things are really heating up over at Creative Soup.

We had our first Mojo Monday yesterday. Mara gave us a great Get Personal challenge, these are great all about me challenges. This will be a great way for everyone to get back to scrapping about themselves! And at the end of the year you'll have twelve great All About Me pages!

The first one is called 11 for 11
As we start the New Year off most of us make resolutions or pick one little word to guide us or maybe generally just think about what we want the year to hold for us and our families. So for this challenge I want us to be a little selfish!

For this inaugural Get Meaningful challenge I want you to scrap your wish list of 11 things you want in 2011! Big or small – serious or fun think about what 11 things you would want this year if you could have anything at all! What is it about these 11 things that make the top of your wish list? Any chances for them becoming reality??

Head over to Mojo Monday at Creative Soup and show us your take on Mara's Fabulous Challenge! And tell the Creative Soup CT girls how absolutely incredible their layouts are!! This challenge is on my to-do list for asap! I love all about me challenges, especially list ones! I'm such a list girl!

Talk Tuesday is another feature we're going to have over at Creative Soup.  Being questioned and having to come up with real answers is always one of the best ways to get my creativity going. So every Tuesday we are going to have one thought provoking question, maybe a little serious, maybe a little silly.

Today's Question is: What is your favorite word, and why?

You can check out the forum post here. Feel free to answer in the thread, or blog your answer and link it back so we can all get to know each other a little better!

Here's my answer:

My favorite word is Cat!

My alter-ego is a cat, and I go around the house saying the word cat all the time. Its a fun short word that you can say any time and make into songs very easily.

But I think the reason that its my favorite is mostly because I always smile when I say it!

Over the next couple days I'm going to be rearranging all my scrappy and art stuff around! I'm super excited to get everything organized again!
