Happy Spring! I am so happy that the weather is finally getting warmer here (for real this time). For a couple of weeks there it really seemed like mother nature was teasing us with a couple of bright sunny days and then more snow!

We had a relaxing Easter here.  My parents came over for dinner and I made a bunch of appetizers and then we had a small entree course. I forgot to take pictures, but I did make a couple of cute Easter printables so I can jot down some of the fun moments.

A Modern Passover Celebration & Free Printables

Passover was a complete success! I mentioned last week that Jeff and I were having very our first Passover Seder at home! Here are a couple of pictures from our great evening. Scroll to the bottom for two free Passover printables (look for Easter printables tomorrow!) 

My favorite things about Passover (and whatever other holidays these might apply to):

1. Taking the time to prepare a special meal. From picking out the recipes to going shopping for the food to planning and cooking the meal to finally sitting down together as a family to be rewarded with the meal that you've worked so hard to create.

Preparing for: A Modern Passover Celebration

Jeff and I are hosting our own Passover celebration this Friday evening. We were originally supposed to attend his family's seder on Monday night, but the weather was playing games with us and we weren't able to make it. While I was visiting Julie Fei-Fan Balzer a few weeks back, she suggested that Jeff and I host our own Passover dinner and start our own tradition. So when we were unable to attend Monday night's dinner, I suggested that we do just that. Also, I'm a sucker for any celebration that involves making a huge meal and storytime.

As with any good celebration, I started a Pinterest board to collect my favorite pictures, recipes, and ideas.

Here are the recipes that we've decided to go with:

• Blue Ribbon Matzoh Ball Soup
• Apple-Pear Charoset
• Potato Kugel with Fried Shallots
• Nach Waxman's Brisket

We'll also be celebrating Easter on Sunday and TableTopDay on Saturday! A very full weekend at the Kristin-Jeffrey household. For everyone who is celebrating this week/weekend, good luck and have a very happy holiday!

5 Tips to Pre-Make a Holiday Minibook!

The holidays can be a crazy time, so I'm always looking for ways to make things easier for myself. This year I prepped a Christmas mini-book in advance, so that right after the holiday I can add pictures and journaling and finish it up!

5 Tips for Quickly Prepping a Holiday (or anytime) Minibook:

1. Start Small: A smaller book will take less time to decorate and fill. Because you aren't trying to document every single thing that happened, a smaller book will be much more manageable.

Keep Your Holiday Notes in Here!

Today I'm sharing a Basically Bare mini-book that I transformed into a book to keep all my holiday notes & memorabilia in.

Throughout the holiday season I like to keep a notebook with me so that I can jot down gift ideas, keep receipts  gift cards, etc. I use a book with envelopes inside so that I can keep things a little secretive; I don't just want to leave my gift list out in the open.

Prepping a Holiday Mini with Basically Bare

Today I'm sharing a fun mini-book over at the Basically Bare blog. We're swapping with Bella Blvd and have some great inspirational holiday projects!

I pre-made this mini-book so that I could just fill it up with Christmas pictures and journaling. With all the holiday craziness, I wanted to create a book that would be easy to fill so that I could make sure to capture all those special moments that make each Christmas unique. I took the Casually Covered Wrap-Around album apart and rearranged the pages to better suit my project.  These books are super easy to take apart and put back together, don't be afraid to try it out!

BooYay! Holiday Edition.

I hope everyone is enjoying their (holiday) weekend! We're down the shore in Cape May, NJ with Jeff's parents. Being that we're down here, I don't really have too much access to any of my crafty stuff.  I did bring along my Smash Book, and I plan on writing a bit later. But to keep in touch, I thought I'd come up with another round of BooYay!

Boo - Long power outages in the middle of the night (Friday)
Boo - Holiday Traffic, especially on the Garden State Parkway
Boo - Still waiting for the NFL to strike a deal; I should be thinking about mini-camps!
Yay - Long weekends
Yay - Fireworks

Happy Fourth of July Weekend!

Happy Fourth of July Weekend!!! We are headed out to Philadelphia for the day and then we're going to drive over to Cape May and spend the rest of the weekend at the beach.  The fourth has always been one of my absolute favorite holidays.  There are always so many great memories to capture.  Here are some of the pictures I took last year in Baltimore--one of my favorite trips ever.

Here's the cover of the minibook I created to document this trip. Its made out of baseball card sheets; cut down to have two pockets.
