Project Life: Week 12

My favorite part of Project Life is that each spread has a style of its own. I love incorporating fun and trendy things each week because for me, Project Life is a bit like a time capsule. Each week I'm not only documenting what I did, where I did it, and who I did it with; but I'm also documenting the colors, the patterns and the design that I'm drawn to.

When someone pulls this album off the shelf in 10 years they'll get a deeper picture of who I am right now as well as learning about all the cool adventures of my day-to-day life.

An Urban Take on Project Life: Guest Post from My Passion Is

Today's post is from Linda of My Passion Is. Linda has an awesome urban Project Life style that I just LOVE. Make sure to scroll down to the bottom of the post to grab the *exclusive* free printable for your own Project Life Spread!

Hello rukristin papercrafts' readers! I'm Linda from My Passion Is... & I'm so happy to be here to share with you some of my project life layouts for week 10 + a free printable! I blog about my life as a law student living in NYC & all the crafty things I love, including project life. I just started project life at the beginning of 2013, & so far I am loving it!

During week 10 I went to MoMA & took photos of some of my favorite of the paintings [this really isn't very typical, usually I don't have enough photos], so this week includes an insert with a lot of photos. Today I'm going to share some close up shots of my layout with you & a few simple tips!

When including smaller photos on a 4x6 card + embellishments, I try to use a white background if the card is going to be busy & a colored background is the card is simpler & only had a few items on it. I think the white background helps my images pop + it keeps the layout from being too busy.

I love my project life layouts to have tons of details in addition to my photos + core kit [I use clementine], but I am scrapbooking on a budget. That doesn't stop me though, for this entire spread I only used paper scraps, washi tape [which is a great investment, the rolls last for a LONG time], a few stamps [another great investment, these do last forever], alpha stickers + the free printable I'm sharing with you below.

I love journaling directly on my photos as well, I use a sharpie pen for all of my project life writing. It doesn't smear on the photos at all [and I'm left handed, so smearable ink is a serious problem!] + I can use it to doodle on my layout [see how I wrote "week" on my title card?]. The journaling card that says now & forever was a free printable from here.

Some of my photos aren't that great, they're all taken with my iphone 4 [I am inbetween digital cameras right now unfortunately], but they tell the story of my life & I love that. With project life, you don't need to worry about getting the perfect shot, just about recording life.

Now I have a free printable to share with you! Click on the image of it or the link below to download.

I enjoyed sharing my layout with you & I hope you enjoy my printable! Please leave me a comment if you take it + I'd love to see how you use it! I hope to see you around blogland sometime :)

Playing Catch Up with Project Life: Weeks 9 and 10.

Playing catch up this weekend was easy thanks to the new Polaroid 3x4 cards from Persnickety Prints. I'm going to be ordering most of my Project Life photos this way for the foreseeable future. This also means I need to make a concerted effort to take more instagram photos throughout the week. So I'm setting a 5 instagram photos a day goal for the next month.

All of my bulky embellishments are attached to the outside of the page protectors. The flair is attached with liquid glue -- add a thin ring of glue around the back of the flair and let it dry for a minute before attaching it to the page protector -- this will help it stay in place easier.

This week's Currently List was written on a new Currently List journaling card -- pick them up in the shop!
25% off all journaling cards through 3/31 using code Currently.

This Studio Calico Project Life stamp was perfect for making a quick date card out of this Polaroid photo. I'm not sure if I'll stick with this each week, but I love the way it looks.

I added this Emerson poem to my spread this week. I printed it onto a Studio Calico PL card as part of this week's Document Life Workshop challenge 'use a poem'. I'm going to continue using the weekly Document Life Workshop Challenges to expand what I document in Project Life.

I'm really enjoying the extra space at the bottom of these Polaroid prints. They're perfect for a bit of stamping, washi tape, journaling, alpha stickers -- just a little bit extra.

This week's Currently Card was printed onto a Seafoam Core kit journaling card. The easiest way to do this is by printing out the Currently .pdf onto a sheet of plain paper and then adding the journaling cards (with a bit of washi or a tape runner) on top of your printed sheet (making sure to line up the print area) and run it through your printer again.

And I leave you with my favorite card from these two spreads. A Studio Calico wood veneer card that I stamped (using versafine onyx), and then added alphas for the date and camera flair to the outside of the page protector.

Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my Project Life spreads for these two weeks. If you're looking for more inspiration, make sure to check out my *massive* project life resource post with over 100 links to bloggers, printables, and more.

Project Life: Week Two

Today I'm sharing Project Life: Week Two. This week I changed things up a bit from my normal Design F page protector and went with a larger Design D page protector to accommodate all the pictures we took on vacation. It's been a while since I was away from home and it was great to have lots of pictures to play around with.

Project Life: Week One

I'm excited to start Project Life again after a bit of a hiatus last month to work on my December Daily. This will be my second year working on this project and no matter how long you've been at it; Project Life will always be a learning experience.

In order to be successful at Project Life, you need to make it work for you.

Last year I decided that I wold use a modified Design F page protector. To get it to look the way I want, I cut off the last column of the page protector and use it like that.

Join the New Year's Fun!

Happy 2013!

I'm super excited to kick of the new year with a bunch of great new projects on the horizon.
After long consideration, I've decided on 'Write' for my 2013 One Little Word. My goal for this year is to become a better writer; as both a blogger and a scholarly writer. I also want to inspire others to write more in their memory-keeping. Be on the look out for new posts with tips and tricks to elevate your journaling and storytelling in the new year.

I work best when I'm organized. I'm calm, more centered, and everything just flows more naturally. The only problem is actually getting organized. Later this month I'll be showing off some great ways to organize both your crafting area and your personal/professional schedule.

Currently is my brand new weekly blog series starting in 2013.
8 Questions. 52 Weeks. Embracing Right Now.
This project is about taking a minute out of your week to write down what is going on right now.  Every Friday I'll be sharing my currently list on a 3x4 journaling card. Currently fits in perfectly with Project Life, you can download the free Currently Project Life Journaling cards and play along using the hashtag #currentlylist.  Look for new colors and seasonal cards in the shop later this month.
2013 will be my second year documenting my everyday world through Project Life. This year I want to make an effort to tell more of my day-to-day stories and inspire others to do the same. I've written extensively on several different Project Life subjects and I hope to expand even more in the upcoming months.

Coming Soon! I'll be joining the 30 Days of Lists team again this March. 30 Days of Lists is a fun month-long journaling challenge with a fantastic community. Learn more about past sessions of #30Lists or sign up for the #30Lists Newsletter. Pre-Registration starts February 4th.

Thank you so much for joining me on this journey. If you are interested in guest posting, sponsoring, or joining me on any of the above projects, please email me or click on the links above.
