Guest Post Guidelines

Thanks for your interest in guest blogging!

Rukristin papercrafts is a memory-keeping blog dedicated to documenting the everyday moments in our lives. This includes (but isn't limited to) scrapbooking, photography, journaling, etc. Please keep this in mind when submitting your idea for a guest post.

Guest blogging is a great way for bloggers to share some of their unique knowledge with a brand new audience. To make sure that everyone has a good and beneficial experience I've set up some guidelines that will help ease the process. Any questions? Email me.

General

  • Early, early, early: Deadlines are important! Guest posts must be emailed to me at least 1 week in advance of the post date.
  • Email posts to me in html code: The easiest way to do this is write up your post on your blog, and then copy/paste the html into an email. This includes hosting any photos that will be in your post. Photobucket/flickr are great photo hosting sites.
  • Don't republish on other blogs (including your own): Please don't republish your guest post anywhere else, including your own blog. Feel free to post a quick snippet/sneak on the day it goes live; but please refrain from publishing it in its entirety anywhere else.
  • Links: It’s a good idea to include a link or two to a relevant post on my blog within your post. You may also link out to other relevant posts if you’d like, but no more than three or four links & no affiliate links.

Images
  • Please make all photos as crisp/clear as possible. Check out these tips from Campfire Chic on photographing your items.
  • If your post is going to be photo-heavy please consider making photo collages to keep the load time quick. American Mom in England has a great tutorial using PicMonkey which is all online.
  • All photos must be hosted on the web before sending your guest post to me. Photobucket, Flickr, even your own blog/website are great places to host photos.

Grammar/Writing Style
  • Please write in your own voice/whatever your normal writing style is.
  • Edit your post well, and rewrite it a few times. It’s a good idea to set your post aside for a day or two and come back to it with fresh eyes.
  • Feel free to use lots of bullets and lists. They are a great way to get a lot of information across without seeming too overwhelming.
  • Please make a concerted effort to use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. Due to time constraints, submissions which require excessive editing cannot be accepted.
  • Make sure all links in your post are relevant and valid. Links that are irrelevant to the main idea of your post will be removed without notice & any non-working links will also be removed.
  • Have a well-rounded wrap-up. A good conclusion is one of the most neglected areas of guest posts. End yours with a good bang that encourages conversation and commentary.

You Stuff/Social Media
  • Include a short bio (50 words or less) at the end of your post. Feel free to include a link to your site and/or a small photo (200x200 max).
  • Include any social media links that you'd like to share. Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/etc
  • I will spread the word about your guest blog post via twitter, facebook and any other social media sites that it fits in with. I expect you to do the same.
  • Excellent guest posts have the chance to appear in my monthly wrap-up post as well as my top posts page
