Katie Stories Guest Post

Hi everyone! I'm Katie, from Katie Stories.

One of my favorite scrapbook annual projects is December Daily. I love the idea of documenting this special month! It is the only project all year that I do digitally. I just find it so much easier to keep up with every day, especially during this busy time, if all I have to do is put the pictures on line.

This year, my plan was to create spreads on Photoshop, then have them printed up as a book from any number of online services that do that. Unfortunately, my computer with Photoshop has decided it no longer wants to work. So, I had to improvise.

Last year, I made my book on Shutterfly. I was very happy with the result, so I went that route again this year!

If you've never made a book this way, I've put together a quick tutorial for you :)

Guest Post: December Daily with Jules

I have an amazing December Daily guest post from Jules Hollis, you can read her blog at Inspired Jules.  Today she's telling the story behind why she makes a December Daily every month. Even if you aren't a holiday person, she has some wonderful reasons why you should document a single month every year.

Hello Paper Crafters!

My name is Jules and I would like to talk a little bit today about why you should make a December Daily album every year. Of course, if December is not really your month, I think you should document the same month every year for the same reasons. I know we are 5 days in to December already, but you could easily make a simple album and record this December as we go along or even do a December highlights album.

There is something quite magical about December for those of us that celebrate this holiday season. I have documented every December in a little album every year since 2008 along with Ms. Ali Edwards. The first thing that I notice about my albums over the years is how my crafting style has evolved over time. If you laid out all of my albums side by side, you would see a noticeable evolution in style and size (especially the years after I learned to sew).

December Daily | Day 2

December Daily: Day 2. We had a relaxing Sunday at home so I didn't have any good pictures for the day, so instead of a picture, I cut out a portion of the box that our desert came in (Peppermint Baked Alaska from Trader Joe's) to use instead.

25 Tips to Rock Your December Daily

25 Tips to Rock Your December Daily:

Pages
  1. Add holiday confetti to a clear envelope or divided page protector
  2. Add a calendar for the week or the month to show an overview of important events
  3. Create a collage photo page when you have too many pictures to just pick one!
  4. Don't worry about sticking to your prepared page. If you just aren't feeling it, change it up!
  5. Add a pop of color. Pick a bright color or some glittery glitz and use it to brighten up your book.

Guest Post: December Daily with Shay Tibbs!

Today I'm sharing a December Daily post from one of my best scrappy friends, the lovely Shay Tibbs. Shay just opened a brand new shop & coordinates the awesome Social Media Butterflies blog hop that I participate in. We got to hang out a whole bunch over the summer at CHA in Chicago, and I can't wait to see her in January.

Helllllo fellow December Daily lovers!

As we begin to get ready for this incredible upcoming holiday season, I thought I would share a little bit about how I prep for my own album. After using last year's Studio Calico/Ali Edwards kit, I really fell in love with the 8x9 size, so set out to find something similar, even though I DID pre-order the SC kit again this year.

Document Your Getaway

Over the summer I wrote a three-part tutorial on scrapbooking your vacation while its happening. I created a mini-book of our trip to the Newport Folk Festival, but this technique could be used for layouts or project life as well. This is also a great way to prepare for longer mini-albums like the December Daily that's coming up in a few short weeks.
