Tired of being sick :/

I'm starting to get really tired of being sick all the time.  I've had a touch of a cold since I got back from Georgia, and its come back with a vengeance this morning. I woke up all congested, sore throat, earaches, not a happy camper---and when you mix that in with the way at which my headaches have been running my life lately; I'm getting to my wits end.  The worst part is the damper its putting on my creativity! I haven't been able to put much together since I got back from Georgia last weekend.

In spite of my lack of creativity, there are a couple things I would like to share. First there is a new Project Life: Memorabilia post over up on Jessica*Bree's blog.  She highlighted a bunch of my new memorabilia pages, which I haven't been able to share anywhere else yet, so please head on over there and check them out! Here is a sneak of one of my fav's:

I was also able to muster up just enough mojo to get two little ATC cards finished up for my Studio Calico ATC swap! I'm very excited for the swap--we're going to try to do it monthly--as I have a totally empty ATC spinner in my studio and it would look so much better filled up with little ATC art!

Hope everyone has a great Monday and the rest of your week! Remember that every Monday morning there's always a new Mojo Monday challenge over at the Creative Soup forums!

Life:Stuff:Me:2011 -- Part II

I've been quietly working on my Project Life: Memorabilia album this whole month. Although I've been pretty bad about taking photos of my pages. Last night I set out to rectify the situation, and I'm so glad to be able to share my project with you.

To learn more about the project itself, you can either visit the PLM (Project Life:Memorabilia) forum over at Creative Soup, or check out Jessica Bree's Blog. She's posting an update every Sunday with some pages and ideas from a few different people working on PLM! There is no start date or due date, so feel free to play along anytime!

Today I have two pages that I'm going to share with you. Both of these pages were made out of memorabilia/stuff that I collected. The first is a box of chocolate pudding from Trader Joe's; and the second is a bunch of Scatergories score cards glued together.

I've been keeping my box of scraps with me when I've been working on my PLM book; and just throwing random scraps on a page.  I've been also trying to make this a "green" project--I figure if I'm making it a point to save and use all of this memorabilia and other stuff, then I should make an effort to also use my scraps and embellishments that I've been holding onto forever. It feels fantastic to be using all this stuff!

The "Game Night" page pictured below is actually kind of a mini book in itself. There are three separate pages made out of the score cards.  Its been really fun making these interactive sorts of pages to put in this book. Its a very "hands-on" type approach.  I also really love the colors in this one, that bluish teal with the orangy-red.

Check out the journaling below, its one of my favorite game stories ever. Rebecca and I have the silliest time together. Jeffrey just looks at us like we are both nuts. But what can I say? We have so much fun together!

More PLM later in the week! I worked on a book that is made of only last year's memorabilia. Thank you so much for looking!

Mojo Monday - Get Crafty--ReUse It!

Gooooood Morning everyone!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm pretty bummed about the Jets loss :/. Piggy is even more upset than I am; but she says there is always next year; and another year for Mark Sanchez to mature will only help everyone.

But Monday morning always brings us a new Mojo Monday, and today is no different!!

Today's Mojo Monday is a Get Crafty challenge from Kim called ReUse It

Ok, we are all guilty of it! We hold on to things because we know we can reuse it. Here is the time to do it. Your first Get Crafty challenge is to reuse an item not intended for scrapbooking to make something pretty! For this challenge you need to reuse something that would normally be thrown away and make a layout, card, or altered project out of it.
[Head over to the thread to] take a look at what the CT made out of our "junk"!

Here is my project. See anything you recognize? its the project I was working on Friday night and posted sneaks of!! I absolutely love how it came out.

And the junk that I used? This cut out sheet of chipboard! It came with one of the board games I got for Christmas. After I punched out all of the little game pieces, I looked at it and said---hey! That would make a great mask! So I used that to mask the background with a bunch of mist colors to create that circle pattern.

I worked a whole bunch on my Project Life: Memorabilia Album over the weekend, so I'll have a bunch of stuff to share with you tomorrow! I'm really liking how this is turning out as well.  Its been a great learning experience. Between using more "memorabilia" type stuff in my work, and trying out some more mixed media techniques, I've really learned a lot in the past couple weeks.

Over on the Project Life blog, Jessica Bree just put up a new post about using memorabilia to create your pages themselves. This is a lot of what I've been doing, and she showcases it fantastically--so head on over to the blog and check out her new pages, they are fantastic!

Also! I hope to have lots of great muffin pictures up tomorrow! The muffins were seriously fantastic, and I highly recommend the recipe to everyone! The ONLY thing I would change at all, is mixing in a little bit of the jam before putting all the batter into each of the muffin tins. I can't wait to make them again!

Project Life: Memorabilia--Album Debut!!

I've been hard at work on my Project Life: Memorabilia album. Read more about Project Life: Memorabilia over at Jessica Bree's blog or in my Happy New Year post. I've been dying to show off my album! and a couple of the pages that I've made so far.

The Album: I used a 8.5x11 3-ring chipboard binder that I found at Amazon.com, It's 3" and really sturdy. I'm planning on getting the entire year in here, so I went with a pretty big binder. They also have binders in 1/2" to 4" so anyone who's planning on doing a 3-ring binder, I highly recommend these. The front of the binder also has a translucent pocket, so I can stick some extra memorabilia in the front if I ever wanted to!

The Pages: Here are my first two pages. I'm going to try to go about this sort of chronologically, I'm viewing it a lot like my December Daily, but with a lot more every day--what am I doing right now kind of stuff. I'm generally using the memorabilia as the page base, and then embellishing or journaling right on the memorabilia.  I'm keeping a stack of 8.5x11 kraft paper with my binder and supplies and using that when my memorabilia isn't big enough/strong enough to act as the base for the page.

The first page is from my favorite Chicken and Waffles place. OMG they have seriously the greatest fried chicken. I had Jeff grab one of their postcards and used that for the base of my first page.  The second page was part of a huge poster that I had hanging in my scrap area. I cut it up and journaled a bit about the last day of the NFL regular season (not the best day ever).

I have a couple more pages in the works and I hope to post them sometime next week! I've been trying my hardest to finish up organizing all my scrap stuff!! I'm down to just the embellishments and then I'll take a bunch of photos of my new area! I'm really loving it so far.

PS -- Make sure you check out Jessica Bree's blog post for her PLM album debut! And a quick video tutorial!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Just a couple quick announcements.

First and foremost. Head on over to Creative Soup! We are having our official launch party today! Lots of challenges, chatting, games, and prizes! Can't wait to see some new faces over there! It'll be a blast!!

Secondly, I've decided that my year long project is going to be Project: Life Memorabilia. It's a Jessica Bree concept, and there are a couple of us that are going to be working on it and showing off our pages every week! The concept is using memorabilia to scrapbook all the things you want to remember, but don't necessarily have time to devote and entire layout/mini/project to.

Bree's description of the project from her blog
While I love scrapbooking, I find I have a few challenges.
I love the idea of year long projects but find many of them too time consuming.
I want to document more of my everyday life, but often forget to capture the little things.
I want to capture more memories, especially in the form of photos, but don't have my camera with me all the time. But I do often find that I have menus, cards, coasters and other memorabilia that I grab when I am out but never get around to using on projects.
My solution? Gather up all this "stuff" I have collected (and keep collecting more), add in some quick snapshots from my phone, and use it to document my everyday life.

Head on over to Jess's blog to get the full experience! She's already started her album and it looks AMAZING! There are a bunch of pictures and some more info about the project! I would love to see some people play along with us! It'll be a great way to remember those little fun moments in life, and those every day things that we sometimes just let pass us by!

We will be posting a lot about it over on Creative Soup, just another reason to head over there and hang out with us!

Hope to see you soon!!c
