Welcome to the Social [Media] Butterflies Blog Hop! Each month on the 29th day, we're going to be sharing projects that have been inspired via each other and various social media outlets: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Message boards, etc. Join us for awesome inspiration, new friends, & great prizes each month. You can check out last month's blog hop project here.
This month's blog hop theme is CHA. I had a great time at CHA in Chicago last week. I snapped tons of pictures, met lots of great people, and had a generally awesome time. The best part of my trip was that I was really able to figure out what direction I'm headed in creatively, and where I 'fit in' to both the crafting community at large, as well as my online world.
Here is one of my favorite pics from the show. There were lots of grey and yellow throughout the show floor. But I thought these two washi tapes from Love My Tapes really captured the designs and trends that I love: grey, yellow, washi, handwritten words, graphic patterns, love, handmade. For such a simple picture, it really says a lot about my journey (and its road tape lol).I created an 8.5x11 layout inspired by my picture. Yellow and grey, with lots of handwriting, washi, and a love theme. To create the overlapping heart mask, I took two basically bare chipboard hearts and placed them on my cardstock before misting over the entire sheet. Earlier this week I wrote out a step-by-step tutorial using chipboard as masks, and I used the same technique below.
